About JICRIT
17 March, 2009
JICRIT or Joint Industry Commercial Radio I.T was set up 10 years ago to oversee and manage the development of J-ET (JICRIT - Electronic Trading), commercial radio’s own trading and accountability system. Mediatel won the contract to build and manage the system back in 1998.
While we are not likely to win any prizes for the name of the company or the system, J-ET is widely accepted as the gold standard of trading and accountability B2B systems and continues to attract interest from other markets and media eager to imitate its success.
JICRIT is a limited company jointly owned by the RadioCentre representing the sales points and stations and the IPA representing media buying agencies. The board of directors is made up of senior representatives drawn from founder members of the J-ET community and is chaired by Don Thomson (COO of Global Radio). A representative of ISBA (The voice of the British Advertiser) has a position on the board. This is the essence of JICRIT, a partnership between buyer, seller and advertiser!
JICRIT’s structure and ownership means it operates as an independent organisation not influenced by any one partner and is authorised to govern and develop the system while ensuring the highest levels of integrity when handling multi million pound campaigns and delivering post campaign proof of transmission. A testament to J-ET’s integrity, two out of three advertising expenditure specialists use JICRIT data following extensive tests to ensure their clients get the most accurate picture of what was actually aired knowing the data has undergone a comprehensive cleaning and checking process (Ebiquity and Xtreme).
